The Rocky River Watershed Council is a citizen-based organization dedicated to the improvement of the water resource quality and function of the Rocky River by developing a comprehensive watershed management plan that emphasizes the formation of partnerships to solve clearly identified problems.
The Watershed Action Plan developed by the Council has established three goals:
- protect and restore riparian corridors along the Rocky River, its tributaries, and headwater streams.
- reduce instream bacterial levels to meet state water quality standards and reduce nutrient loadings to meet TMDL loading reduction targrets.
- increase public awareness and involvement in stewardship of the Rocky River.
The Watershed Council meets quarterly in the evening on the fourth Wednesday of the month in January, April, July, and October at locations throughout the watershed. The Council's 15 member Board of Directors meets on the fourth Thursday of months that there is no Council meeting. The Chairperson and Board of Director election occur on a staggered schedule at the Annual Meeting of the Watershed Council in January of each year. All meetings are open to the public.
