The Ottawa River Klean Up Association, Inc. (ORKA) was established in January of 1999.  ORKA was founded by members of the Ottawa River Yacht Club, Outings Unlimited, Inc., Point Place Boat Club, River View Yacht Club, and the Western Lake Erie Sailing Club. Our goal is to work with governmental entities, private clubs and organizations along with private citizens for the purpose of returning the Ottawa River waterways to an environmentally sound condition.  By environmentally sound condition, we mean that the waterways will be safe for boating, fishing, swimming and other forms of recreation.

Essentially, ORKA is a community development corporation.  Plans are in place to apply for federal, state and local grants in an effort to have the adequate resources available to reach our goal.  We also host numerous fund raising events each year in an effort to add to our resources.   Any and all profits are contained within our 501 3C fund.  ORKA members and friends also participate in various clean up activities each year.  We volunteer our services to the Clean The Streams Event in September, in which we rid the Lake Erie Islands at the mouth of the Ottawa River of unwanted and unnecessary debris.  We also host an annual clean up of the Hoffman Road Nature Trail in May.  ORKA is very proud that we are the "adoptive parents" of this site.

ORKA meets at 7:00pm the fourth Monday of each month and we would welcome anyone interested to our general membership meetings as well as any of our fund raisers and clean up activities. Specific information as to monthly meeting sites and/or fund raising activities can be found on our website or via our email address.

ORKA DOES NOT EMPLOY PROFESSIONAL FUND RAISERS.  WE ARE A VOLUNTEER, NON PROFIT ORGANIZATION.
