Approximately 50 watershed coordinators, agency professionals, and watershed group partners attended the workshop, which featured field-oriented training on lake monitoring as well as the opportunity to meet with peers. This 2-day workshop was sponsored by Ohio State University Extension, the Ohio Department of Natural Resources-Division of Soil and Water Conservation, and the Ohio Environmental Protection Agency. Scheduled sessions included an invertebrate walk, fish seine session, science cruise, and fish and plankton labs. See additional information and photos on these sessions. Graduation for the third group of watershed coordinators to complete the Ohio Watershed Academy also took place during OWLS. Sam Speck, the Director of the Ohio Department of Natural Resources, was attending a meeting nearby and stopped in to present the graduates with their certificates.
