Ohio State University Extension Watershed Team works to build the capacity of Ohioans to protect, restore, and enhance watershed health. Our team is ready to collaborate with you on your watershed planning efforts.
ServicesHere's a look at the services available to you from the OSU Extension Watershed Team. These services can be tailored to your needs. EducationThe team provides assistance with planning and conducting educational programs, engaging citizens, and documenting results. Workshops and courses in watershed planning and management, including the Ohio Watershed Leaders (OWLS) workshop and the Ohio Watershed Academy, are also offered. Science-Based InformationTeam members have direct access to Ohio State researchers with expertise in a variety of areas. Their expertise can be put to use to help your community--and that's what Ohio State's land-grant mission is all about. PlanningThe team can help you update your Comprehensive Plan--especially by incorporating community-supported, research-based natural-resource components. Team members are skilled and experienced in facilitation, communications, and environmental decision-making. Securing FundingThe team can assist you with developing grant proposals for funds to improve watershed health and protect streams in your community. Now more than ever, external funding is one of the keys to a watershed plan's success. Group Start-UpThe team has been involved in the establishment of several watershed groups and has experience in organizational development and training volunteers. Volunteer MonitoringTeam members have worked with watershed groups to organize and train volunteer monitors. Trained volunteers can demonstrate watershed improvements, uncover problems early, and educate your community about the importance of stream protection.
