    The Ohio Watershed Leaders Conference will be held September 8-9 in Loveland, Ohio. The format will remain similar to recent Ohio Watershed Leaders Conferences. On Day 1 Participants will tour watershed restoration projects via charter bus. Tours are lead by local watershed leaders/partners. Day 2 will consist of several concurrent sessions presented by watershed coordinators, non-profit conservation orgs., state and federal agencies and university staff & faculty.

    The Ohio Watershed Academy (OWA) is a professional development course offered by Ohio State University Extension. The purpose of OWA is to build the capacity of current and future watershed group leaders in Ohio to facilitate and participate effectively in collaborative watershed management initiatives.

    The Nutrient Management and Edge of Field Monitoring Conference will provide an opportunity for researchers, conservation professionals, and farmers from across the nation to discuss edge of field monitoring research, nutrient reduction strategies and activities, and conservation programs that have been successful and innovative. The conference will place an emphasis on identifying and developing methods to document progress and milestones of conservation efforts in meeting Mississippi River Basin nutrient reduction goals as well as Great Lakes Basin nutrient reduction goals.

    The Water Management Association of Ohio (WMAO) is the one organization dedicated to all of Ohio's water resources. WMAO promotes the comprehensive understanding, conservation and multifaceted use of Ohio's water resources. The 44th Annual WMAO Conference will be held on November 17 & 18 at the Doubletree Hotel - Columbus Worthington.     The next EPN breakfast is "Engaging the Community to Effectively Balance Environmental, Economic, and Social Needs in Floodplain Utilization".  The City of Shelby in Richland County has been doing just that and has earned national attention from FEMA and others.  Our presenter is Joseph Gies, Project Coordinator and Zoning Inspector.  Joe's keynote address at last year's Ohio Floodplain Management Association was enthusiastically embraced by the hundreds of attendees.
